The Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card and Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card travel rewards credit cards are among the best travel credit cards as it’s easy to earn and redeem points. They have several valuable air travel benefits, too. In addition to needing good or excellent credit, knowing what income is needed for the Capital One Venture cards is necessary, too.

Capital One Venture Income Requirements

Capital One doesn’t disclose a minimum income requirement, although you must earn at least $425 more than your monthly rent and mortgage payment. For example, it’s possible to qualify with a solo income of approximately $30,000 without bills but have to earn $50,000 or more with a mortgage payment.

You can find this clause in the “Additional Disclosures & Terms and Conditions” section of the Capital One application terms for each Venture card product:

The terms say, “I understand that I am not eligible for this offer if:

My monthly income (my disclosed total annual income divided by 12) doesn’t exceed my monthly rent/mortgage payment by at least $425. Or, Capital One otherwise determines that I am unable to make my monthly payments.

There are several other stipulations, such as not receiving a new card member bonus for that particular Venture Card in the most recent 48 months. Additionally, ensure that you haven’t applied for at least two Capital One credit cards in the last 30 days and that your existing Capital One cards are in good standing.

Additionally, Capital One wants to make sure you’re eligible for the minimum initial credit limit for the respective card. That’s $5,000 for the Venture Rewards and $10,000 for the Venture X Rewards. Your income and credit history help determine your spending limit.

Here’s how hard it is to get the Venture Rewards Card.

Does the Capital One Venture Have Income Requirements?

Capital One doesn’t require a minimum annual income for its credit card products other than your monthly income being at least $425 higher than your monthly rent or mortgage payment.

In a blanket statement, the credit card issuer simply says:

“While there is not a set income requirement for getting a credit card, card issuers may look at a range of information about your financial health before deciding whether your application will be approved or denied. For instance, lenders may consider your debt-to-income (DTI) ratio—your monthly debt payments compared to your monthly income—before issuing a credit card.”

The bank may ask to verify your income when further review is necessary to make an application decision.

Capital One Venture Income Data Points

Income is a contributing factor to getting approval for the Capital One Venture X or Venture Rewards. Some applicants disclose their annual income and whether they were approved or not.

While this data is for the Venture X Rewards, it serves as an excellent baseline for the Venture Rewards, which can have overlapping income requirements:

  • LuckTerrible6 has a $37k approval
  • Izbiz95 was declined with a 48,000 annual income and a 745 credit score
  • Radical_Edward_25 has a $45,000 annual income and a 779 credit score

These inputs don’t disclose their monthly housing costs, but it goes to show that you can get approved with a moderate income.

There are also many data points where people are approved or denied with annual incomes near or above $100,000. Common decline reasons include too many new accounts or high balances on existing cards.

Though the Venture Rewards and Venture X Rewards are some of the best, the other Capital One cards have perks that are worth considering.

Summary

In conclusion, the income needed for the Capital One Venture Rewards family is only at least $425 above your monthly rent or mortgage amount. A credit score above 700 and keeping your existing cards in clean order are also pivotal. Hopefully, this helps you determine whether or not this is a good time to try for one of these cards.
