For several reasons, your credit score is one of the most important financial numbers. In addition to having Amex rewards credit cards, American Express offers several credit score tools to keep tabs on your score and look for potential fraud.

Amex Credit Score Tools: American Express® MyCredit Guide

MyCredit Guide is a free credit score tracker open to the general public and American Express cardholders. This complimentary tool will soon begin providing a FICO Score and Experian Credit Report.

Members will also enjoy FICO® Score Planner (formerly Score Goals) and FICO® Score Simulator. Just like when scheduling a Chase Bank appointment, these additional features can make it easier to plan for upcoming credit decisions and project your credit score trajectory.

These changes provide more value as current users receive a VantageScore 3.0 credit score based on the TransUnion credit report. Checking your FICO Score for free can provide a more accurate assessment of your credit history and see the same score that lenders see.

Once again, you don’t need an American Express credit card to join this platform, and you can enjoy similar perks as cardholders.

Here are some places to check your credit score for free.

American Express CreditSecure®

Consider CreditSecure if you want to take the extra step to improve your credit and protect your credit profile. Starting on or after November 2, 2023, customers can enjoy more credit and identity monitoring features.

Some of the new features include:

  • Online privacy manager
  • Social media monitoring
  • Identity theft insurance
  • Financial account takeover
  • Dormant account alerts

In addition to these benefits, you can receive monthly FICO Score updates from the three credit bureaus. You can enroll yourself and up to 5 children. In the event of potential credit or identity fraud, the service puts you in touch with dedicated representatives to assess the situation.

You will need to already have or get an Amex card to enroll in this service. Additionally, a monthly fee of up to $19.99 applies, although new users can get the first 30 days for only $1.

Summary

American Express is introducing these benefits to help the 59% of Gen Z and Millennials wishing to increase their credit score along with the 65% of survey respondents who don’t know where to start with improving their finances. Having access to a free FICO Score is a valuable benefit for those new to credit or with extensive experience. The other benefits help plan a financial future too.
