I was invited to preview the Dr. Seuss Experience, a road show that has just opened in Los Angeles. The one-of-a-kind interactive immersion into the wondrous world of Dr. Seuss just opened on the first and second floor of Santa Monica Place, which is at the front of the Third Street Promenade. Since I have two little kids, ages seven and four, there was no doubt I was going to take them to check it out! If driving, park at Santa Monica Place Parking Structure 7 on the corner of 4th Street & Broadway. The first 90-minutes is complimentary.

Once inside, guests of all ages will be transported through an awe-inspiring, sensory spectacle including nine different, visually stunning Dr. Seuss worlds. You have the opportunity to meet iconic characters like The Cat in the Hat and live the classic stories and experience Dr. Seuss like never before.

According to their press material, “Guests can experience a Seuss-tacular journey featuring themes and installations that bring Dr. Seuss’s beloved works to life including the following:
📖 Immerse yourself in imaginative spaces that bring to life nine of your favorite Dr. Seuss books.
🤝 Enjoy meet and greets and storytime moments with The Cat in the Hat, The Grinch, The Lorax, and more.
🧩 Test your skill at carnival games and hidden challenges to win Seuss-tacular prizes.
🌴 Swing among Truffula Trees from The Lorax.
🍀 Stroll through towering clovers listening for a Who from Horton Hears a Who!
🎪 Ride a carousel inspired by If I Ran the Circus and join the Circus McGurkus!
✨ Explore the brand new Stars Upon Thars Sneetches Mirror Maze, the only one of its kind in the world!

I personally liked the carnival game the most, in which you have 20 seconds to knock down the pins. If you score 200 points or more, you get a token to try and win a prize in the claw machine. I scored 320 and the kids each got to try and win but came up empty-handed.

The visit takes around 60 minutes but they let you explore at your own pace. It does close 90 minutes after the last scheduled session starts so keep that in mind. Tickets begin at $31 and are available at experienceseuss.com. The experience runs through January 31. According to their online calendar, it’s closed on Mondays and Tuesdays in December and January.
