Disneyland definitely wasn’t the ‘Happiest Place on Earth’ yesterday for one young family. A disturbing video posted on social media shows a mother handcuffed and being escorted out of the park by the Anaheim Police while her two young children cling to her and crying for help.

The woman was arrested at Disneyland California Adventure Park after failing to show her identification to authorities.

KTLA reports that “according to the Anaheim Police Department, the woman was taken into custody and cited for obstructing a peace officer for refusing to provide identification.

Disneyland officials told KTLA that the woman was allegedly trying to bring her children into the park without paying for tickets. The woman was uncooperative with Disneyland Resort security teams, officials said, and the Anaheim Police Department was later engaged.”

The police also suspect that the woman has tried this before. The full details are not known but a short video of the incident was captured and shared on social media. Watch the video below.

This is a terrible situation and traumatic for the woman’s children. The children crying for help is just heartbreaking. But I feel like there must be more to this story because I don’t think the police would march a mother out of the park like this unless something else had happened.

As usual, the internet had thoughts. Some comments left on the video include:

Melipless: She was trying to bring her kids into the park without paying. The woman was uncooperative with Disneyland Resort security teams. Police said she is suspected of doing this before.

hayxmarie: other pov shows her yelling & getting in the face of the disney employee for asking her to show her id. she is obviously trespassing (a crime) but they gave her the option to corporate, she refused

Beli: Omg the little girls screaming “ayuda” “ayúdame” broke my heart

Chelsita_33: Disney told KTLA news the woman was arrested for not providing her ID to officers. she snuck her two kids in without tickets and she’s been in trouble for doing this before.

Children under the age of 3 are permitted to visit Disneyland and Disneyland California Adventure free of charge if they are with a guest with a valid park ticket and reservation.

However for years, I’ve seen TikTok videos shared by people who have been scamming the system and sneaking their children over the age of 3 into Disneyland. Here’s one video:

Surprisingly, the comments section is filled with people who have done the same:

Michy: My kids were always “turning 3 next week” until they were 6.

Rogelio: We ask my son at home how old is he and he says “ 4 “ and at Disney he’s 2 “ 😂

msfabulous805: my kids were 2 til they were 4 😂 …

Megpie: I had my son use a pacifier and told him to just give the ✌🏼if anyone talked to him 😂

And apparently, Disneyland isn’t the only theme park that needs to be concerned about this. In a video that racked up a whopping 36.2 million views, a man sneaks his friend, a grown man, into Universal Studios in a stroller. And it worked. Watch the video below.

Listen, I totally understand that visiting a theme park is extremely expensive, especially with multiple kids. But sneaking your kids in and risking arrest is definitely not the answer. The Consumers Credit Union offers these tips for saving money at amusement parks. After the recent arrest at Disneyland, perhaps people will think twice before attempting to sneak in.
