Rarely do you come across a viral video on social with an overwhelming support for what’s right and wrong. It seems these days almost everything is divisive, even things that shouldn’t be. However, I’m happy to say this video of a entitled business class passenger on Air India talking down to a flight attendant and demanding that he remove an economy passenger’s bag from an empty business class bin has everyone on the right side.

Air India aircraft.A video was posted by A Fly Guy’s Network on Instagram (embedded below) with the caption: “A video has surfaced showing yet another instance of how some individuals from India’s wealthier backgrounds speak down to those they perceive as beneath them in the social hierarchy. These attitudes are often seen on flights to this regions wealthiest cities, such as Delhi, making these routes among the most dreaded by airline staff worldwide.”

India’s caste system is a social hierarchy that has been a significant aspect of Indian society for centuries. The caste system traditionally divides people into four main categories, known as varnas:

Brahmins: Priests and teachers, responsible for religious rituals and the study of sacred texts.

Kshatriyas: Warriors and rulers, tasked with protecting and governing the land.

Vaishyas: Merchants and landowners, responsible for trade and agriculture.

Shudras: Laborers and service providers, who perform tasks for the other three varnas.

I hope the woman in the video has seen this so she can see how offensive her actions were and that she’s going to get some self-help to prevent it from happening again. She’s lucky this didn’t happen on a flight with any of the captains and flight attendants who commented on the video because she wouldn’t be getting to where she needed to go. See below.

@claudioxaviersilva: As a Flight Attendant, I have to disagree with how my colleague handled the situation. By doing what the passenger demanded, he is giving her reason and consent to continue behaving that way. This means that on the next flight, she will continue with this type of attitude and treat the flight attendants as her slaves. If it had been me, you can be sure that the passenger would have left through the same door she entered.

@pilot.tish: If someone spoke to or treated any of my crew like this, especially while still on the ground… I can promise you they will not be travelling on my plane. In my experience, when people behave like this on the ground, it usually escalates in air.

@mausy74: From a Captain’s perspective… such a Karen would be off my flight straight away. First of all respect the crew 🤬

@Techtraveleat: A perfect example of how a passenger shouldn’t behave. She was incredibly rude, and I still can’t understand why the crew followed her demands. I feel bad for the crew.

@Jordanclouds: I’ll never understand people who enjoy humiliating others. They’re always despicable human beings.
