A disturbing scene unfolded at Orlando International Airport when flames were seen shooting from the tailpipe of a Delta Air Lines aircraft. The widebody Airbus A330, scheduled to fly to Atlanta, had 200 passengers, 10 flight attendants and two pilots on board.

Thanks to Dylan Wallace, a passenger in the terminal, the incident was captured on video:

According to FlightAware, the aircraft was Delta flight 1213 (DL1213), which pushed back from the gate at 10:58 a.m. EDT—two minutes early. Takeoff is now listed for 5:10 p.m., though that will clearly be aboard a replacement aircraft.

Local news outlet ClickOrlando and a Delta Air Lines spokesperson confirmed that passengers have been brought back to the terminal and will be provided with food and drinks. Delta said:

“We appreciate our customers’ cooperation and apologize for the experience. Nothing is more important than safety and Delta teams will work to get our customers to their final destinations as soon as possible.”

They also added:

“The fire was contained and is out. Some passengers were evacuated via an emergency slide,” and “Delta will bring in additional aircraft to help get customers to their final destinations.”

Commenters on Dylan’s video are shedding light on the situation—and reflecting the general anxiety many travelers are feeling. One user noted:

“this is happening much too often for me…………” — Sandra Muhammad

Another speculated:

“@1776Cherryred: Could have been engine torching. Not seen much with newer planes but was relatively common in the past.”

Observers also pointed out that the pushback tug was still attached, meaning the plane had not yet made it to the runway.
