Beginning tomorrow (April 22), Hawaiian Airlines will relocate its operations at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) from the Tom Bradley International Terminal (Terminal B or TBIT) to Terminal 6.

LAX shared the update on X with the following post:

I imagine this move will spark mixed reactions. TBIT is a beautiful terminal, one of my favorites in the world. But let’s be real: Hawaiian Airlines used the remote gates there, and the walk from curb to gate was ridiculously long.

I’ve done it multiple times, including on Hawaiian flights (here’s one of my Hawaiian trip reports), and it’s no fun if you’re running late, traveling with young kids or have mobility challenges. That trek needs moving walkways or at least more courtesy carts.
Starting tomorrow, April 22, passengers flying Hawaiian Airlines to or from LAX should go directly to Terminal 6 for all check-ins, departures, and arrivals.

Here are a few reactions from travelers responding to LAX’s announcement on X:

  • @TheForwardCabin: “Boo, I’ll miss TBIT!”

  • @ryanaviator1: “Well, at least they are going to share some gates with United then and not have passengers running across the tunnel for the West Gates.”

  • @facdd: “It’s about time. International Terminal is Terrible!”

Hopefully, this move improves the overall experience, especially now that Hawaiian Airlines is operating closer to their future partner and new owner, Alaska Airlines. LAX did spend $230 million to modernize Terminal 6, which is much nicer than it was but they really just put lipstick on a pig. See photo below.
