When I watched the video embedded below, the first thing I thought about was this famous quote: “Our youth now love luxury, they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders, and love to chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up their food and tyrannize their teachers.” Would you believe the quote is attributed to Socrates in 399 B.C.?
A video was shared on Instagram on a popular flight attendant handle, with the caption: “How NOT to miss your flight! An American man is reportedly facing deportation from Colombia after assaulting a LATAM aircraft he missed in Bogotá. It’s reported that the tantrum-throwing man-child arrived late for his flight and, ignoring warnings from counter staff, bypassed security checks in a desperate attempt to board. Upon finding the aircraft closed, he lashed out in frustration, repeatedly kicking and punching the plane’s windows and door for over 3 minutes, as seen in a video posted on X account RedMasNoticias. How did he think this was going to go?”

As you might imagine, the comments aren’t holding back:
@sarajabb: Even if it’s possible to open the door for him to board , does he think that cabin crew or captain will allow such a crazy person to be onboard ? 😂😂
@ashleymelinaa: Easiest way to get on the no fly list 🥰
@_misterrabell: As an Aircraft Maintenance Technician, this makes me mad. Why take your anger out on the aircraft.
@marghe.autorino: As a cabin crew I would never ever let this man board the plane! c’mon! learn how to behave first and not to be disruptive against who’s working there!
I can feel this guy’s anger, but he most likely has no one to blame but himself for not allowing enough time to check-in, get through security, immigration or not paying attention to the boarding announcements. It sucks to miss a flight but to act like this, especially in a foreign country , is a big no-no. It’s way better to just rebook the next flight, even if it’s the next day or week instead of acting like this, which most likely earned him a seat in a South American jail cell.
