Growing up in the 80s, we got by just fine without technology, thank you very much. We didn’t have phones always attached to our hands and we didn’t have 24/7 access to our friends, the news, the weather forecast, food delivery, TV, games, social media and shopping … to name but a few of the ways we interact with our phones every day.

Fast forward a few decades and here we are, not only attached to our phones but to our laptops and tablets, too. Technology has changed the way we live our lives and few of us are immune.

Even my kids, ages 5 and 8, have their own iPads but we have a rule in our house. They don’t get to use their iPads at home. They’re strictly for when we travel. Which means that when we board an airplane, they’re so eager to get their little hands on their tablets that we can pretty much guarantee every passenger on the aircraft total silence from our kids.

The only problem is on those long-haul flights, when their iPads die mid-movie and they look up at us with wide, questioning eyes. What now? To charge their devices, we have to use the port for their headphones so they have to wait. Which of course is fine. And yes, they can read a book or play a game in the meantime. But since their airplane ride is one of the very few times they actually get to use their iPads, they understandably want to maximize every minute.

Dual lightning adapter
2-in-1 double lightning adapter

So, I was happy to discover that there’s a solution. This 2-in-1 double lightning adapter has two jacks so that you can use one jack to charge the device and the other to plug in your headphones. And it comes in a pack of two.

This tiny little device makes everyone happy and we have four of them, one for each of the kids’ devices, one for mine and one for my husband’s. I never leave home without this portable phone charger, of course, but it’s always good to have a back-up. I’ve found myself needing to charge my phone and listen at the same time, not just when I’m traveling but at home, too when I don’t want to disturb my husband or the kids (and when my wireless earphones need charging.)

With so many devices that always need charging, you will not regret having one or two of these tucked into your bag at all times because you just never know when it can save the day.
