How to Use Lyft at LAX + $50 Promo Code
Each Friday, we feature a reader-submitted tip as our Travel Tip of the Day. This week’s tip comes from Lyft driver Troy, who added some good stuff to our tip about Lyft now picking up at LAX:
“Once you request the ride you’ll need to go upstairs to Departures to one of the six ‘Ride Service Pick Up’ signs. They are a green circle and they have a large letter ‘A, B, C, D, E, or F’ on them. The Lyft driver is in the holding lot and will arrive in three to five minutes.
Plus if anyone would like $50 in free ride credits, just enter the promo code JOHNNY1827 in the ‘Add credit code’ of the ‘Payment’ section before you request your ride.” The $50 credit is applied over ten rides ($5 each). Thanks, Troy!

I realize this post was 7 years old, but for those who might not know, Uber and Lyft can no longer pick up by the terminals (they CAN drop off, though, but on the Arrivals level).
The place where U & L pick up is called the “LAXit” Lot (LAX Exit, get it?), and there are shuttle buses that circle the Arrivals roadway to take you to the Lot. It’s actually right next to Terminal One, an easy walk from T1 or T2 (assuming you have rolling or light luggage). The Uber pickup is on the first island; the Lyft pick up is on the next island over and to the left.
The shuttles do run often, but are slowed down by people schlepping (technical term) heavy bags up the bus steps.
I’m sure most regular travelers through LAX already know this, but I wanted to let others know.
