I wrote a tip a few months ago for anyone traveling in 2024 to make sure to check Taylor Swift’s concert schedule because wherever her tour goes drives hotel prices up dramatically. BTW: The superstar is kicking off her 90-concert, 19-country tour on Wednesday night in Tokyo, Japan.

Well, there’s another huge event coming to 16 North American cities and it will take place for over a month between June 11 and July 19, 2026 so if you’re planning on traveling to the USA, Canada or Mexico you will want to look at these cities and dates before booking plane tickets since hotels will be in high demand.

Obviously, these newly-announced dates are quite a ways off but they’re worth keeping in mind for anyone who is planning their travel well in advance.

You might recall that in 2018, FIFA awarded the 2026 World Cup to North America with three host countries: Canada, Mexico and the United States. The 23rd edition of the popular soccer tournament will take place beginning June 11. The cities and dates were just released and FIFA had Kim Kardashian make the big reveal from SoFi Stadium in L.A. Watch the video below:

The tournament happens only once every four years so there’s going to be a ton of interest and will bring people from all over the world, especially from the 48 countries where teams are coming from. Here’s the schedule direct from FIFA:

FIFA World Cup 26 Final

Match 104 – New York New Jersey Stadium

It’s incredible to think that there are going to be 104 World Cup soccer matches played in North America. Most of them will take place in the United States but Canada and Mexico will get some too, which is exciting for the fans. But I bet the players are equally excited if not more.

Growing up, I was never really into soccer but after one of my friends invited me to a quarter-final World Cup match between Italy and Spain in 1994 (the first and last time the USA hosted), at Foxboro Stadium, it sparked my interest. My interested really peaked when I happened to be in Europe during the World Cup or Euro Cup as it’s just one big party, regardless of whether that country is hosting or not. But if that country’s team is in it, you can bet you will find every TV turned on and everyone tuned in to the big game, even at gas stations. It’s quite remarkable.

However, what’s also remarkable is what is going to happen to hotel prices. They’re going to sky rocket, especially as the tournament progresses. Once you start mapping out your travels for this time period, be sure to keep these dates and cities in mind and plan accordingly.
