Happy Friday! We used to send out a reader tip every Friday but since not many people are traveling right now, we haven’t received a whole lot of tips from you guys. However, if you have one, please feel free to email me at Johnny@JohnnyJet.com. I always love to hear your travel tips and share them with our readers!

A reader sent in a fantastic tip this week about how to get a status match that includes a free carry on and priority boarding.

Reader Lisa writes:

“Frontier Airlines is offering a status match with other airlines up until 12-31-20. It costs $49 but it pays for itself as you get your mile match with other airlines and many of Frontier flights are only 10-20K for a domestic flight. Plus, you get the other perks like a free carry-on and priority boarding. We paid $49, got matched 50K miles with our AA account and now, are booking 5 one-way flights from Vegas to San Francisco, normally costing about 25,000 miles each, so we saved and got the elite status with Frontier.”

Thanks for sharing this tip, Lisa! This is great to know. I’ve never flown Frontier (and I’ve heard mixed reviews) but for those of you who are traveling right now or do have elite status on another airline and are looking to jump ship, this is a great option.

If, like me, Frontier is not your airline of choice, you still have options. Learn how to request or match your elite status with other US carriers below:

American Airlines
Unlike most other US carriers, American Airlines does not publish information about their status match program. But you can call American Airlines customer service at 1-800-882-8880 to request a status challenge. (Note: They apparently give different offers to different people based on a variety of factors.)

United Airlines Status Match Challenge

Delta Air Lines Status March Challenge

Alaska Airlines Status Match Challenge

Southwest

That’s great to hear that airlines match status.
Do you know if hotels and rental car companies offer it? Thank you.
