I don’t know if the world is getting crazier or if it’s always been this way and we just have smartphones and social media now to thank for bringing it all to our attention. Most of the craziness I’ve covered has taken place in airports and airplanes like last week, when a passenger tried to get a Super Bowl MVP removed from an American Airlines flight because he thought he was sick. And that doesn’t even compare to the Spirit Airlines gate agent in New Orleans, who was caught on security footage stealing and discarding medicine, car keys and family heirlooms from a bag a passenger left behind … all while laughing. You can watch that crazy video here.

However, what took place recently on a Caribbean cruise ship is just outright disturbing. According to USA Today, “When Saja Rafaeil first noticed shadows inside a bathroom stall on MSC Cruises’ Meraviglia ship, she didn’t think anything of it. She and her husband were on a sailing that visited Mexico and the Bahamas, when she got up use the restroom one night as they were relaxing in a lounge on board.”

Saja said, “I tried to ignore (the shadows).” Then she saw a hand holding a cell phone reach underneath and upward. “And then that’s when I freaked out a little bit.”

Saja took out her phone and started recording a video (embedded below) that she later posted on TikTok of her, another ship employee (he was very nonchalant) and another much more aggressive female passenger confront the twisted cruise ship worker who tried to lock himself in the bathroom stall.

@sajac4 This man was in the women’s restroom located at the kids club. Please don’t leave your children unattended on any vacation & be aware of your surroundings at all times. #cruise #cruiseshipcrew ♬ original sound – Saja 🇵🇸

Saja’s caption read: “This man was in the women’s restroom located at the kids club. Please don’t leave your children unattended on any vacation & be aware of your surroundings at all times.”

Here’s the transcript of her video:
There’s someone hiding under there filming. There’s someone hiding under there filming me. Knock the door in there? Yeah. It’s a man. Yeah, I don’t know. Yeah. Okay. Why would we do this? He was filming me. It’s a guy in here. That was just. Okay, okay. You need to call security because he’s an employee. He was filming. Yeah, no, I just opened up the bathroom right now. I didn’t know. I just saw a camera pointing at me.”

When the other female passenger got the perpetrator to come out the first thing he said with a worried, guilty face was: “I was wrong.”

Saja posted a follow-up statement which read: “UPDATE: I have been contacted by authorities and have been informed that the gentleman in the video has been deported. My goal is NOT to disgrace a cruise line for the acts of 1 of their employees. We had a great experience besides this incident & the other crew members were some of the best staff I had the privilege of meeting. I decided to post the video to bring awareness on leaving your children alone in any setting especially while on vacation. I want all women to be aware of their surroundings at all times, vacations included. Stay vigilant & safe out there.”

She also noted, “Please keep in mind that this issue IS NOT unique to MSC. Also, to answer your questions, No I have not been compensated in any way shape or form, or had contact with the cruise line. Nor am I interested. Just wanted to spread awareness. Us women have to stick together. ❤️”

Saja did the right thing recording but she probably should have called security right away because who knows if this lowlife had a weapon. But she’s absolutely right that this is a scary reminder for parents and grandparents to never leave their children unattended under any circumstances.

You have a picture of a RCL cruise ship. However, this incident took place on a MSC cruise ship. Not fair to RCL.

How do you know it’s an RCL ship? There’s no name on it.
