What is the Capital One Venture X Business?

The Capital One Venture X Business is a premium travel business credit card that many business owners and entrepreneurs are likely unaware of because it’s pretty exclusive at the moment. This card was originally launched in July 2022 as the Capital One Spark Travel Elite.

Current Travel Elite clients will receive a rebranded card with the Venture X Business label.

In a nutshell, this card has many overlapping travel benefits as the consumer Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card. For example, you can enjoy complimentary airport lounge access and an annual $300 Capital One Travel credit.

Unlike the consumer version, it’s a pay-in-full charge card that can provide more flexibility with your spending power.

Like the other Capital One Spark Miles credit cards, this product earns Capital One miles that you can combine with your Venture miles or other Spark Miles accounts to book award travel or redeem as a travel statement credit.

How to Qualify

Here’s where things get a little tricky. At the moment, the only way to apply for the Venture X Business is through a Capital One Relationship Manager.

You will need to currently use the bank’s business banking and credit card products. As a result, the most active and loyal business clients are eligible for this card as it’s an invite-only application.

If you’re currently ineligible, you can apply for a Spark Miles credit card to form a relationship with this bank.

No Preset Spending Limit

As this is a business charge card, you won’t have a preset spending limit. As a result, it’s possible to have more capacity to make large purchases although you will need to pay your balance in full each month to avoid a 2.99% late fee.

This feature and many of the travel benefits are comparable with its most similar competitor, The Business Platinum Card® from American Express.

Earning Venture X Business Miles

All cards purchases earn 2 miles per $1 although you can earn more when booking trips through Capital One Travel:

  • 10x on hotels and car rentals
  • 5x on flights

You will earn unlimited miles on all purchase categories.

Redeeming Venture X Business Points

You can redeem your Capital One miles in several manners:

  • Travel statement credits
  • Upcoming award trips
  • Airline and hotel point transfers
  • Cash back
  • Gift cards
  • Amazon.com and PayPal purchases

Your points are worth 1 cent each when redeemed as a statement credit for recent travel purchases or when booking an award trip through Capital One Travel.

The 15+ Capital One transfer partners can also be a good option for international flights or booking partner flights. Most loyalty programs have a 1:1 transfer ratio.

Venture X Business Travel Benefits

The best reasons to have this card are for its travel perks.

Capital One Travel $300 Credit

Each year, the first $300 in Capital One Travel purchases are reimbursed through a purchase credit.

10,000 Capital One Miles Anniversary Bonus

You will also receive 10,000 bonus miles beginning on the first card anniversary. These points are worth up to $100 in travel through Capital One Travel, but you can also transfer them to the transfer partners.

Airport Lounge Access

You will receive complimentary membership into the Priority Pass and Capital One Lounge networks. Cardholders can bring two additional guests into either network and each additional guest costs extra.

Free Global Entry or TSA PreCheck

You will receive up to $100 in Global Entry or TSA PreCheck application fee credits every four years. While many cards offer this benefit, it can also be used to reimburse the fee for an additional employee if you already have your credentials.

Capital One Premier Collection

As Capital One continues to become a luxury travel brand, personal and business Venture X cardholders have exclusive access to the Capital One Premier Collection. This portfolio includes upscale hotels and resorts from across the world, and you can enjoy special on-site privileges and experience credits.

Business Perks

As this is a business credit card, you can also incorporate these capabilities into your work and bookkeeping routine:

  • Free additional employee cards
  • Customized spending limits for employees
  • Virtual card numbers
  • Purchase records (compatible with Quicken®, QuickBooks® and Excel®)
  • Choose your monthly due date
  • Schedule automatic payments
  • Add account managers

You can also schedule vendor payments online when a merchant won’t accept credit card payments. However, a 2.9% fee applies for this convenience although you get to pay the bill.

Card Fees

The primary card has a $395 annual fee although you can request free additional employee cards. These additional cards can enjoy most of the benefits as the primary card including airport lounge access.

Two other potential fees are a 2.99% monthly fee on late balances and a 2.9% fee for online vendor payments when the recipient doesn’t accept card payments.

Is the Capital One Venture X Business Worth It?

This business rewards card can be an excellent option if you want a premium travel credit card with an affordable annual fee ($395 plus free employee cards). This card is worth having if you can use the annual $300 Capital One Travel credit, airport lounge benefits, and the Capital One redemption options.

As a quick comparison, it’s more affordable than the Amex Business Platinum which is its most identical competitor. While it has similar travel and business benefits, the Venture X Business perks are not as extensive in many instances.

While this can be a valuable card, it’s currently not open to the public, and connecting with a Capital One Relationship Manager can be a potential challenge.

Does Capital One X Have a Business Card?

Yes, the Capital One Venture X Business is an impressive business rewards credit card that provides an abundance of travel benefits. Its $395 annual fee and free additional employee cards also make it a competitive option. Unfortunately, it’s challenging to qualify for as you must inquire with Capital One to see if you’re eligible.
