I was just talking to one of the fathers at my daughter’s pre-school about possibly going to Europe this summer. He was thinking the same thing and then suggested I get the Fly Tot since it essentially turns an economy coach seat into business class for kids. I kind of chuckled because we got one six years ago when our first child was born and I agree … it’s a total game changer. Even if you don’t have kids, we all know that traveling with little ones isn’t easy. And it’s even more difficult on long flights or red-eyes.

You can purchase the Fly Tot here but Amazon has a couple of similar products that are comparable and cheaper. This one is Amazon’s Choice. It’s a brilliant contraption that’s basically a huge travel pillow that fills the gap between two seats to extend the seat length. The extra surface allows children to lie flat. You can use it two ways: If you have one child, the child sleeps lying flat, but their legs may be slightly bent.

This particular inflatable leg rest has two separate air chambers. “The lower chamber for 1-level height, and the upper chamber for 2-level height. With 2-in-1 double valve, the upper black air valve is a one-way air inlet for inflating or replenishing gas. Bottom transparent air valve can be quickly inflated and deflated. What’s more, the double valve is designed for mouth blowing, It only takes about one or half minutes with a few breathes. Release the air only 3-5 seconds.”

One customer left this comment on Amazon, “This has changed our long haul flights! I purchased this for my toddler. And it really helped. It was like he was sitting in business class. He slept for 10 hours! Dream come true for a tired Momma. Lol”

It’s recommended that they be used in window seats to prevent blocking the aisle in the event of an emergency and if you’re seated in the middle rows of a wide-body plane with two aisles, then use the device in middle seat.

Note: According to one seller on Amazon, “Emirates, Korean Airways, Hawaiian Airlines, Asiana, Virgin Atlantic, Air France, Air Malta, Egypt Air and Qantas don’t allow this product on their flight. Other airlines please check with staff.” However, we’ve never had a problem with it and we flew on multiple airlines and regularly on American Airlines.
