Sharing economyA few weeks back, we shared the news that more than half of Americans plan to use sharing economy services this summer—which marks a huge jump from just a year ago.

Well, the engine behind that survey—Allianz Global Assistance—has more to share. When asked to compare sharing economy services to “traditional services,” 35% of Americans revealed that they feel the former offer better value for the money. Just 19% declared that traditional services return more value, with the rest of those polled believing that the value is the same or that they don’t know.

Sharing economy services also provide a more authentic local experience than traditional services, according to the survey. A full third (33%, up from 22% last year) of US travelers see sharing economy as the better bet in this category, while 22% give the nod to traditional services.
