Current American Express Platinum Offer

New The Platinum Card® from American Express cardmembers can earn 80,000 Membership Rewards® points after spending $8,000 on purchases on their new Card in the first 6 months of Card Membership.

Keep reading to see just how valuable this welcome offer can be for you. Additionally, if you want to learn more about all the details and perks of the card, check out the Platinum Card From American Express Review to get a more in-depth look.

American Express Platinum 100k Offer Worth It?

Let’s make one thing clear: this is a large welcome bonus for The Platinum Card® from American Express. It’s also a targeted offer.

If you qualify, you only have to spend $8,000 in the first 6 months to earn the full 100,000-point bonus. Already one of the best travel credit cards available, this bonus gives cardholders more.

Besides the bonus points, your normal purchase rewards will be 5x points on airfare purchased directly from the airline or using AmexTravel.com, up to $500,000 on these purchases per calendar year. Prepaid hotels booked with American Express Travel earn unlimited 5x points. All other purchases earn 1 point per $1 spent.

Because American Express currently exercises a “once in a lifetime” welcome offer policy, you can never earn a second Platinum Card welcome bonus once you earn the first bonus.

Waiting to try for the American Express Platinum Card with a high bonus lets you maximize your application.

Redeeming Membership Rewards Points

Having 100,000 bonus Membership Rewards points can be worth $1,000 or more in award travel. To squeeze at least $1,000 from your bonus points, focus on redeeming your points for award flights as each point can be worth at least one cent each. Below are some of the ways you can redeem your Membership Rewards points for maximum value.

Book Award Flights on AmexTravel.com

Each Membership Rewards point is worth one cent each when booking flights on AmexTravel.com. This can be an easy way to book points when you need to fly an airline that isn’t a 1:1 Membership Rewards transfer partner. If you earn the American Express Platinum offer, you will have plenty of options to choose from.

1:1 Point Transfers

Transferring your points on a 1:1 basis to the Membership Rewards transfer partners can help you find higher redemption value. After all, you only need to make each point worth more than 1 cent to make the welcome bonus worth at least $800. This is one of the benefits that make the Platinum card one of the best credit cards for excellent credit.

Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer

One of the best premium cabin experiences is Singapore Suites on select Singapore Airlines flights with their Airbus A380 fleet. You will get a private first-class suite that includes a separate bed. To stay under 100,000 points, one of the cheapest routes to fly is New York to Frankfurt for 76,000 miles one way. You can also fly from New York to Singapore for 132,000 miles.

British Airways Executive Club

When flying to Hawaii, you can transfer your points to British Airways first. The next step is to book partner flights on American Airlines or Alaska Airlines. From the U.S. West Coast, one-way economy flights can cost 12,500 miles. Booking the same flight directly through American can cost 22,500 miles. By doing it this way, you can save 10,000 miles for each seat you book.

Aer Lingus AerClub

They also have reasonable award prices for flying to Ireland. From the U.S. East Coast, economy seats start at 13,000 Avios on off-peak dates. Business-class seats cost 50,000 Avios. With the American Express Platinum enhanced offer, you can easily book a few trips. To your benefit, Aer Lingus is one of the few foreign airlines that doesn’t charge fuel surcharges on long-haul flights.

JetBlue TrueBlue

One of the best coast-to-coast US premium experiences is flying JetBlue Mint. One-way flights from New York to LAX cost 58,400 points. As a side note, the transfer ratio is 250 Membership Rewards to 200 JetBlue miles. This isn’t quite a 1:1 transfer ratio, but you might be able to make up the difference when JetBlue’s award flights require fewer points than national carriers on the same route.

Other 1:1 transfer partners include Delta SkyMiles, Emirates, Etihad, and Avianca LifeMiles, to name a few transfer partners. Speaking of travel transfer partners, because this is a metal card, you won’t have to worry so much about the wear and tear that happens with plastic cards.

  • Grubhub
  • The Cheesecake Factory
  • Goldbelly
  • Wine.com
  • Five Guys

This perk can save you up to $120 annually.

New American Express® Gold Card cardholders can earn 60,000 Membership Rewards® points after spending $6,000 on eligible purchases on your new Card in your first 6 months of Card Membership.

I just did an in private search using Microsoft Edge and the 150k offer appeared. No need to use cardmatch.

We recommend CardMatch because you can see the different offers available to you. Sometimes using a private search can give false information, and completing the application directly on the card’s site will result in a hard inquiry. By using CardMatch, you avoid the hard inquiry and avoid hurting your credit score.
