American Airlines Passenger Sees Ghost on the Plane and Causes a Viral Stir

I just finished my second interview of the day with NewsNation and I thought I would share some of the questions they asked since they were interesting. RELATED: Woman Refuses to Let Passenger Sit in Her Empty Row But Does She Have the Right?

First of all, there’s been a video circulating on social media since yesterday. It was first posted to TikTok but has since been deleted. Barstool Sports shared it on Twitter and it’s going viral there with over seven million views.

The video shows a distressed female passenger onboard an American Airlines flight departing from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport. The passenger walks down the aisle after what appears to be the end of boarding and says she’s getting off the plane because she claims someone in the back of the aircraft is not real. At first I thought she was talking about the flight attendant and then possibly another passenger but it turns out she was talking about a ghost.

The video definitely is not safe for work as she drops a ton of F bombs. She says, “I’m telling you, I’m getting the F off and there’s a reason why I’m getting the F off and everyone can either believe it or they cannot believe it.” She then says, “I don’t give two F, but I am telling you right now – that MFer back there is NOT real. And you can sit on this plane and you can die with them or not. I’m not going to.”

According to the Daily Mail, the plane was delayed by three hours and the woman didn’t get arrested and got back through security after all passengers had to deplaned.

These are the questions I was asked on NewsNation:

1. WHAT’S YOUR REACTION TO THIS?
At first, I thought the woman was drunk, doing drugs or both but she could also be mentally ill. If it was the former, it would have been funny but if it’s the latter, definitely not. It also wouldn’t have been funny if I was on the plane since it definitely caused passengers significant delays and most likely a lot of missed connections and money.

2. HOW DO YOU EXPLAIN TO YOUR KIDS WHEN SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAPPENS ON YOUR FLIGHT?
That’s a great question and I don’t know the answer. I asked my wife since she’s the more sensible one in our family and she said, assuming the person was mentally ill, that she would explain that some people are not well and it can cause them to act strangely.

3. TRAVEL EXPERTS TELL YOU HOW TO PREPARE FOR FLIGHTS AND DELAYS, BUT WHAT CAN YOU DO WHEN IT COMES TO UNRULY PASSENGERS? WHAT ARE YOUR RIGHTS?
I’m not sure if there are rights geared towards unruly passengers but if an airline cancels your flight regardless of the circumstances, they are required by law to give you a full cash refund. I assume they would handle a delay like this as they would a mechanical problem since this passenger is in the airline’s control, unlike the weather or an FAA ground stop.
