For better or for worse, airports and airplanes have turned into endless sources of entertainment these days. You can’t scroll through the news without finding a crazy or funny or outrageous incident reported. Today’s story is yet another incident you don’t see every day but this time, the central character isn’t a person but an animal. RELATED: Flying Spirit, Frontier or Allegiant Airlines? This is the bag you need so you don’t get charged extra
You’ve just got to love that a furry stowaway crashed through the ceiling of a Spirit Airlines counter in Terminal A of New York’s LaGuardia airport. The 16-second video (embedded below) shows a racoon dangling from wires below a missing ceiling panel before dropping down.
According to The Today Show, when the animal fell on the floor, it sent employees and passengers running to safety with many screaming. Fortunately, it was eventually captured, taken outside and released. No one, including the racoon was injured.

As usual, the comments section did not disappoint. Here are a few of my favorites:
@Wolf Forest215: We need some Mission Impossible music 😏
@MrsCaeks: Least crazy thing to happen at Spirit that day
@chay: This is the most Spirit Airlines behavior I’ve ever seen.
@Jacob Sneddon: There’s no need to freak out, it’s just my Spirit animal.
@Madz: why is everyone screaming, he’s just trying to catch his flight
@Emersonjamaica: Now I understand the customer service at @spiritairlines
@balesa19: Frontier would have been more appropriate maybe they would have posted him on the tail
In related but very sad news, Ben Baldanza, the former CEO of Spirit Airlines died on Tuesday from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease). He was just 62 and without a doubt, transformed the ultra-low-cost carrier into a disruptive powerhouse.
