I agree as well. I cringe when guest in my home put their luggage on my beds. Besides bugs and nasty germs, the suitcases can soil or ruin my nice bed linens
Never thought of this! This reminds me of an article one of our writers recently wrote (10 Travel Tips for the Clean Freak http://stowawaymag.com/2012/02/29/10-travel-tips-for-the-clean-freak/). I guess you can never be too careful!
I agree! Never put your luggage on the bed unless you put something under it to protect the bed and the bedspread. I always get the bathroom shower mat and put it on the bed before placing the suitcase on the bed. This saves the towels as well. Since we walk on the shower mat, it can be used for the luggage. This is if there is not a luggage rack for both bags since I am traveling with my husband.
PS I listen to you on Leo’s show!!! You give out good info!!

Such a good tip! I’m a bit of a germaphobe and I hate thinking about how dirty my suitcase is. If there isn’t a luggage rack I usually just leave it on the floor when I unpack, better than the bed.
I never put a suitcase on the bed. There are so many germs for certain. imn addition, if there are bedbugs in your hiotel, you wioll surely bring them home to your own bed if you place luggage on any bed anywhere.
Another good reason not to put your suitcase on the bed: Bedbugs!
If you should later discover that the bed is infested (ouch) and you have put your suticase on the bed, you run the risk of contaminating it with new bedbugs.
Keeping things other than your self off the bed helps avoid the extension of the original problem (that being getting eaten up during a night’s sleep) and at least you (hoepfully) will not be carrying any unwelcome visitors home.
