Remove your luggage tags after you landEach Friday, we feature a reader-submitted tip as our Travel Tip of the Day. This week’s tip comes from reader Barbara D., who says:

“When I travel it is to multiple locations. The first thing I do when I pick up my luggage is pull the airline luggage tag off. I do this for two reasons.

1. People can’t read I came from the U.S.A. and assume I am a wealthy American (wish I were) and possibly make myself a target for a scam.

2. To make sure I don’t forget to do it, and on my next flight have two tags and my luggage ending up in the wrong place.”

Thanks, Barbara!

I do exactly the same thing every time. I usually do it as soon as I get to my hotel room. And especially those pesky little bar codes they place in 2 separate places on the luggage. My main reasoning is to make sure my bags don’t end up in another place next time I fly. I sometimes see luggage with hundreds of these stickers on them.
