An elderly Russian traveler mistakenly boarded a baggage conveyor belt at Vladikavkaz Airport, believing it would take her to her departure gate. She had checked in for a flight to Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport with S7 Airlines. Security footage shows her stepping onto the moving conveyor near the check-in counter, where two airline staff members were helping another passenger.
Unnoticed, she positioned herself on the belt and tried to lift the plastic curtain that separates the baggage screening area. She lost her balance and fell, landing flat on her back, gazing up at the overhead screen still showing her flight details. The conveyor belt continued to move, carrying her behind the check-in area, until her head disappeared through the opening.
A Fly Guy Travels shared the video (embedded below). I’m not sure if it is sad or hilarious. The caption reads: “OMG I feel bad for laughing – Babushka on the baggage belt!!!! At Vladikavkaz Airport, an older Russian woman took an unexpected route after check-in. Instead of heading to her gate, she stepped onto the baggage conveyor belt, hit her head, and rolled feet first into the luggage compartment! A fellow passenger spotted the unusual cargo and alerted airport staff, who quickly helped the woman through the correct door.”

It’s not clear how exactly this happened. Perhaps the woman was drunk or had never traveled before or … both. But if she had never been to an airport before, you can sort of understand how she confused the baggage conveyor belt as the entrance to her departure gate. Actually … maybe not! I’m not sure how this could have happened but her actions, combined with the music of the video, makes it hard not to laugh. And that’s before reading the comments below:
Too much vodka, Babushka!
Is that how the people are getting in the wheel wells?
I’m convinced the common sense brain cells leave the building when folks come to the airport
Did she put her bag tag on? Lol 🤪
The agents just casually looking back like we’ll deal with that later 💀
And that’s why being on your phone like check-in agent is not even not professional, but dangerous.
