Marriott Irvine Spectrum in Southern California.According to police, two elderly people from Laguna Woods were found deceased in a room at the Marriott Irvine Spectrum (7905 Irvine Center Drive) in Southern California. According to KTLA, police said “that the officers were initially responding to a request for medical aid in the hotel room and informed the public that there would be a large law enforcement presence during the investigation.”

On Thursday, August 15th, just before 3pm PT, the Irvine Police Department shared the following information on X, formerly Twitter:

Police have not yet released the names of the deceased, who were guests at the hotel but reporting from ABC7 says that the man was in his 80s and the woman was in her 70s. They were supposed to check out of the hotel on Thursday.

As usual, the Internet weighed in on the incident. A person posted the following unverified information on Reddit:

Alternative_Dot4773: It was a murder/suicide of two elderly people in room 709. They were due to check out of the hotel and security found them in the room. Also the hotel is the MARRIOTT IRVINE SPECTRUM located at 7905 Irvine Center Drive. Often confused with the Irvine Marriott located at 18000 Von Karman Ave. This is the second incident of a death at this hotel. In 2020 there was a man who killed himself in room 1402. The room was put out of inventory for a while and they brought in a priest to bless the room before putting it back into inventory. How do I know this you may ask? I work there.
