It’s a rough day for aviation in the United States today. There have been two incidents so far. A few hours ago, two American Airlines planes clipped wings at Washington DC’s DCA airport. Here’s that story. Fortunately no one was injured.

However, it doesn’t look like the latest incident is going to have such a happy ending because there’s video of a helicopter crashing into New York City’s Hudson River and as of the time of this publication, six people have been reported dead. See videos embedded below.

This one is the latest and it’s difficult to watch.

This first one shows the helicopter already in the water and the propellers falling.

Here’s a close up of the helicopter in the water.

Another social media user tweeted multiple videos, stating that the helicopter crashed into the Hudson River near Pier 25 in New Jersey. The incident occurred close to West Side Highway and Spring Street. Police report emergency vehicles on scene and traffic delays in the area.

Flight Radar shared they’re “following reports of a helicopter crash in the Hudson River between New York and New Jersey. At this time, based on ADS-B data and the location of SAR activity, we believe the aircraft involved to be N216MH, a Bell 206L-4 LongRanger IV.”

This is a developing story.
