For Labor Day, Apple AirTags have dropped to some of the lowest prices we’ve ever seen: single AirTags are currently on sale for $22.99 and a four-pack is as low as $69.99. Usually, a pack of four retails for $99, so this is a great deal. If you’ve been thinking about getting AirTags for your travels, this is the time to pull the trigger.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: AirTags are the travel essential you can’t skip. I never check a bag without tossing one inside. I’ve lived through the stress of lost luggage too many times not to. On a recent trip, American Airlines lost one of our bags. But thanks to the AirTag inside, I knew it hadn’t even made it onto the plane. Instead of standing around at baggage claim with everyone else wondering what was going on, I had the information I needed to file a claim right away and get the process started.
And it’s not just about convenience: AirTags can really save the day. Earlier this summer, police at LAX recovered a stolen suitcase containing $15,000 worth of clothes because the owner had an AirTag inside.
I also hear from readers and fellow frequent fliers all the time who use AirTags religiously. Once you start traveling with them, you’ll never want to go without. They’re small, discreet, and give you real-time updates on your bags’ whereabouts. It doesn’t matter if you’re flying across the country or heading overseas: you’ll know exactly where your suitcase is, even when the airline doesn’t.
Here are a few of my go-to tips for using AirTags when you travel:
Check your batteries before every trip. AirTags run on watch batteries that last about a year, but if the battery dies, the device won’t work. I always check mine before I leave for the airport.
Pair them with your airline’s app. Between the AirTag and the airline’s own baggage tracking, you’ll have the most accurate picture of where your bag is.
Don’t put all your eggs in one basket. Even with AirTags, I always pack essentials (like medication, valuables and a change of clothes) in my carry-on.
With the busiest travel season of the year about to begin, airports will be packed and airlines will be busier than ever. That means the chances of delayed or misplaced luggage go way up. For me, slipping an Apple AirTag (just $17.50 on sale if you buy a four-pack) into my bag is a no-brainer. It’s like buying peace of mind.
So if you’ve been waiting for the right moment, this is it. Grab a pack of AirTags while they’re on sale and thank me later. They’ve saved me time, stress and even entire trips. Trust me: once you start traveling with them, you’ll wonder how (and why) you ever did without.
