The news has been filled with an extraordinary number of unruly passenger outbursts that have taken place at airports or on airplanes on the ground or at 36,000 feet. Fortunately, the man at the center of this latest incident didn’t have this outburst in the air because what he did was outrageous and it would have been a struggle for the flight crew to contain him.
Jay Robert, who is a flight attendant and now travel reporter who posts on A Fly Guy’s Travel Network, just posted an exclusive video (embedded below) with the caption: OMG! — Another Angry Passenger, Demanding To Be Sent To Haiti Destroys JetBlue Check-In Counter In JFK. Less than three weeks after a Haitian man attacked an American Airlines check-in counter with a hammer over ticket issues in Santiago, Chile, another check-in counter—this time JetBlue’s at JFK—was ransacked by a violent passenger demanding to be placed on the next JetBlue flight to Haiti. It’s unclear what triggered the man’s outburst, but he could be heard shouting that he wanted to leave the “godforsaken country” while he knocked over check-in kiosks and trash cans. Eventually, a lone police officer intervened and escorted the man out of the terminal.”

As you can see in the video, it took what seemed like an eternity for security/police to show up. You would think that in an airport, especially JFK, they would have been there within seconds but that wasn’t case, which is, quite frankly, scary.
According to one of the video commenters: “His sister was just killed in Haiti and he wanted to get on the next JetBlue flight. Apparently he felt someone lied to him.” Jay pointed out in his reply that of course it’s tragic but no excuse: “@beautekreyol if that’s true, that’s tragic. However thousands of people fly peacefully every day for the same sad circumstances and do not create violence or risk harming others as they destroy airport property. No excuse for this behavior.”
Others agree and were also wondering why it took so long for security to show up:
@_24ktm: Grief does not excuse despicable behavior.
@ester.nemes: Where is the security at the airports? They always everywhere and not at places like this? He destroyed the entire check in counter area 😞🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️
@Stinkidog: One cop?!? Seriously? And it took that long for him to get there?
The whole thing is unfortunate and it doesn’t help that he’s Haitian. Last month, another Haitian passenger destroyed an airline check-in counter with a hammer. That took place in Santiago, Chile at LATAM airlines; here’s the story.
In the caption, it says, “It’s unclear what triggered the man’s outburst, but he could be heard shouting that he wanted to leave the “godforsaken country” while he knocked over check-in kiosks and trash cans.” You have to wonder if last week’s false rumor that the former president repeated at the debate with Vice President Harris about Haitian migrants in Ohio eating cats and dogs had something to do with this man’s outburst. It’s still no excuse but you have to wonder.
NBC News debunked the rumor when they reported that watchdogs found the woman behind the original post: “The woman behind an early Facebook post spreading a harmful and baseless claim about Haitian immigrants eating local pets that helped thrust a small Ohio city into the national spotlight says she had no firsthand knowledge of any such incident and is now filled with regret and fear as a result of the ensuing fallout. “It just exploded into something I didn’t mean to happen,” Erika Lee, a Springfield resident, told NBC News on Friday.”

NBC news and Springfield? I live in Ohio and that news wasn’t all baseless, but whatever, what media will tell whatever they want and hold back the rest.
Vance said, “If I have to create stories so that the American media actually pays attention to the suffering of the American people, then that’s what I’m going to do.” Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, a Republican, condemned the claims Sunday, saying, “This is a piece of garbage that is simply not true.”
