10 travel-themed Zoom backgrounds

If you’re like me, you’ve used Zoom over the past month or so to hang out with friends and family online. Hopefully, you’ve also read about and used the Zoom tips we collected here.

One of the tips in that story concerned how to change your background on Zoom. By going to “Virtual Background” in Zoom’s “Settings” (more details on how to do this are here), you can make it look like you’re standing in front of the Golden Gate Bridge or on a Caribbean beach or even flying on a plane. It’s a fun feature any time, but especially right now while we can’t travel. A number of travel brands and destinations have even gone so far as to release their own high-quality Zoom backgrounds for people to use (free). Here are 10 sources of travel-themed Zoom backgrounds that you can use:

1. United Airlines

United’s recently released Zoom backgrounds include high-quality images of a United plane cockpit, a plane in flight and a Polaris lounge. Download them here.

2. National Parks Foundation

The U.S. National Parks Foundation’s stunning travel-themed Zoom backgrounds and desktop images bring home National Park magic from parks like Yosemite, Olympia, White Sands, and many more. Download them here.

3. Australia

One of my favorite destinations in the world has a great set of images—showing natural beauty and cityscapes from around the country—for use on Zoom. Download them here.

4. Orlando, FL, parks

Visit Orlando is offering Zoom backgrounds featuring scenes from around town and on the ground at its world-famous parks. Universal Studios, SeaWorld and LEGOLAND are among the options. Download them here.

5. The Bahamas

Nassau Paradise Island (home of Atlantis resort), has released Zoom backgrounds showing off the island’s offerings beauty, including its sands and turquoise waters. Download them here.

6. The Wilderness Society

The Wilderness Society has made a collection of beautiful images—and “seamless video loops”!—available as Zoom backgrounds. Download them here.

7. Royal Caribbean

As long as you won’t be cruising for real (I know I won’t, as I wrote here), you can do it digitally with Royal Caribbean’s backgrounds, which include on- and off-ship scenes. Download them here.

8. Alaska Airlines

The Alaska Airlines offering runs the gamut of travel-themed Zoom backgrounds, with colorful scenes from cities the airline flies to as well as shots from inside a plane and at SEA-TAC airport. Download them here.

9. Historic New York City

The New York City Department of Records recently suggested in a tweet that people use its historic photos of NYC (over two million!) as Zoom backgrounds. Browse and download them here.

10. The rest of the world…

You can try uploading just about any high-quality image as a Zoom background, travel-themed or not. But in the travel sphere there are many more brands and destinations than the nine above that have taken the opportunity to reach people via Zoom. If there’s a destination or hotel you love, you can use a photo you have of it—or you can pop it into Google with “Zoom backgrounds,” or search for it on the likes of Unsplash or Pexels. Then, just follow these steps.
