reader-tip-720x360Each Friday, we feature a reader-submitted tip as our Travel Tip of the Day. This week’s tip comes from reader Mahomed, who says:

“I use discount programs like Groupon in my home city quite often, and when I am going to travel to another city or country, I go to that city’s Groupon page and have a look at their local deals being advertised for restaurants, goods or entertainment. If something should catch my eye and I am interested in it, I will sign up for it and get the deal. This can save you quite a bit of money when traveling.”

Very similar to this past travel tip, with a travel application. Thanks, Mahomed!

Yes, I use groupons everywhere. I used two while in South Carolina recently for a plantation I visited and Brookgreen gardens. Great idea!

I recommend the exact same thing, in fact 2 weeks before your trip, change your hometown in your Groupon account to the destination you will be visiting, then you will have deals specific to your destination fed to your inbox. This is how I got 2-for-1 tickets to the Lion King.

You can do the same with livingsocial.com.
