You might be aware that you can transfer Capital One miles to multiple airline partners. However, what might be news to you is the ability to share Capital One miles with loved ones. While some credit cards restrict you to pooling points/miles only within your own accounts, Capital One offers this added flexibility, enhancing the value you get when redeeming miles.

Share Capital One Miles
There isn’t a fee to transfer your Capital One miles to another account. Specifically, miles can be shared between the following credit cards:
- Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card
- Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card
- And the Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card
- Capital One Spark Miles for Business
- Capital One Spark Miles Select for Business
You cannot share miles between a travel credit card (i.e. Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card) and a cash rewards card (i.e. Capital One Quicksilver Cash Rewards Credit Card).
While Chase Ultimate Rewards lets you transfer points to immediate family living at the same address, Capital One doesn’t have a “same household” restriction. You can share miles with any person with a Venture Card, Venture One, Spark Miles, or Spark Miles Select.
Note that these cards are all some of the best Capital One credit cards for travel.
Click “Rewards Miles”
Once you’re inside your Capital One online account, the first step is clicking your rewards miles balance. This leads you to a menu listing the different ways to redeem Capital One miles.
Share Your Rewards
The next step is choosing the “Move Rewards” button. You will have the option of either transferring miles to another eligible Capital One credit card in your name. The second option is to share miles with another person’s Capital One account.
If transferring to another one of your accounts, you can complete the entire transfer process online.
You may need to call Capital One to share miles with another person. However, it’s possible to complete third-party transfers online.
Why Share Capital One Miles?
Sharing Capital One miles can be a good idea for several reasons. The transferred miles don’t expire and you won’t pay a transfer fee. Below are some reasons to consider sharing miles.
You might decide to pool your miles into one account so you can downsize the number of Capital One cards you earn.
Maybe the credit card you’re going to close charges an annual fee. It’s likely that you’re not able to redeem your existing miles before your card renewal date. Transferring now preserves your miles while you avoid the annual fee.

Too Many New Capital One Accounts
Each person is only able to have up to 5 Capital One credit cards at once and can only apply for 2 cards in 30 days. So, you might apply and earn the signup bonus then transfer the miles to your friend to round off the existing point balance.
Repay a Travel Purchase
If your friend pays for a trip with their credit card, you might decide to share miles to offset this cost. They can redeem the miles as a travel statement credit.
Transfer to Airline Partners
Probably the best reason to consider sharing miles with another Capital One account is for the airline partners. Since you can’t transfer miles directly to a friend’s frequent flyer account, this is your next best option. Note that the amount of time varies depending on the airline when you transfer Capital One miles.
Once the miles land in the other person’s account, they can transfer their miles to these programs:
- Aeromexico (1:1 ratio)
- Aeroplan (Air Canada) (1:1 ratio)
- Air France/KLM (1:1 ratio)
- Avianca (1:1 ratio)
- British Airways (1:1 ratio)
- Cathay Pacific (1:1 ratio)
- Emirates (1:1 ratio)
- Etihad (1:1 ratio)
- EVA Air (2:1.5 ratio)
- Finnair (1:1 ratio)
- Qantas (1:1 ratio)
- Singapore Airlines (1:1 ratio)
- TAP Air Portugal (1:1 ratio)
- Turkish Airlines (1:1 ratio)
- ALL Accor (2:1 ratio)
- Choice Privileges (1:1 ratio)
- Wyndham Rewards (1:1 ratio)
Two of the partners you can consider first are Avianca LifeMiles and Singapore Airlines. Avianca is a Star Alliance partner and they waive the fuel surcharge on international carriers including Lufthansa.
There are plenty of ways to redeem Singapore Krisflyer miles. One of the best ways to splurge on a Singapore-operated flight is a Singapore Suites class flight from New York to Frankfurt for 86,000 miles. You can also book Star Alliance partner flights. However, the best partner flight is flying Alaska Air from the U.S. West Coast to Hawaii for 25,000 KrisFlyer miles round-trip.
