Last year, I flew American Airlines Flagship First Class between Los Angeles (LAX) and New York (JFK). It was a morning flight and if you follow me on social media, you might remember the photo I shared with Conan O’Brien, since we boarded together. Not surprisingly, he was very funny and approachable.

On that flight, they served breakfast and later, a cheese plate accompanied by a Pressed Greens with Ginger juice. I’d had Pressed juices before since there are multiple locations near where I live but I’d never tried this particular concoction. To my surprise, the cold-pressed juice of apple, cucumber, celery, lemon, spinach, ginger, kale and parsley was very tasty. I never thought I would like this mix, which is why I’d never bought it, But it was so good, I asked if there were any more, and drank a second one.

I took a photo of it to remind myself and to tell my wife that she has to try it. Fast forward a year and we partnered with Pressed Juicery to try their 7-day Vacation Prep Pack. I’ve never done a cleanse before except when preparing for a colonoscopy and that’s no fun. But my diet isn’t the best so I figured I could use a bit of a reset. The holidays are coming up and we were just about to embark on an epic trip to Fiji and Australia. A ‘vacation prep’ sounded perfect.
I did some research on what it entailed before committing. Here’s how it’s described on their website: “Prepare to unlock a beach-worthy glow with our Vacation Prep Pack, designed to help you look and feel your bloat-free best. Featuring our Simple Cleanse Juice and Hilma Wellness Shot, this dynamic duo is your solution for reducing bloat, cleansing your digestion, and unleashing natural radiance. Whether you’re a modern jet-setter, bride-to-be, or simply seeking an extra dose of self-love, get ready to mingle with confidence wherever your travels take you!”

All of that sounds pretty good but did it mean I couldn’t eat for the whole day? It didn’t. They say that all you have to do is incorporate one Simple Cleanse Juice into your morning routine and one Hilma Shot post-breakfast or anytime before the evening for seven days. Pair with a balanced diet throughout the day to nourish your body effectively. And of course, don’t forget to hydrate throughout the process.

Pressed Juice
Here are the product details:
What: Prepare for your travels with our 7-day program designed to alleviate bloating, improve gut health, and leave you looking and feeling your best.

Why: Combining the ingredients of these two beverages enhances gut health, boosts metabolism, supports detoxification of the digestive system, and alleviates bloating discomfort.

The juice ingredients are:
Simple Cleanse Juice: Water, Lemon Juice, Allulose, Ginger Juice, Ground Cayenne Pepper
Hilma Wellness Shot | Gut Instinct: Apple Juice, Spinach Juice, Lime Juice, Peppermint Extract Powder (Peppermint Extract, Maltodextrin), Lemon Balm Extract Powder, Ground Caraway Seeds, Fennel Seed Extract Powder (Fennel Seed Extract, Maltodextrin), Cultures (tapioca starch, bacillus coagulans)

A week before our trip to Fiji and Australia, my wife and I started the cleanse. Pressed Juicery kindly sent us the products, which cost $60 for the week per person. It’s $55 if you’re a VIP, which means you spend at least $10 a month at Pressed.

On the first day, unsure what to expect, I tried the juice and to my surprise, I really liked the taste. I like ginger and spice so it was right up my alley. My wife found it had some kick but not so much that she couldn’t drink it and said she didn’t mind the taste.

I recommend doing this cleanse when you have some time at home, especially the first couple of days, because there’s a reason they call it a cleanse. It’s not like the stuff you drink for a colonoscopy but the juice is potent. I was wondering what the active ingredient was because the only thing that seemed out of the ordinary was allulose. I looked it up and it’s just a sugar substitute but it’s a naturally occurring sugar found at low levels in figs, raisins, wheat, maple syrup and molasses. So that must be the kicker.

Later that day I drank the Hilma Wellness Shot, which again, I really enjoyed.

The good news is that I lost at least five pounds and my wife did, too. Of course, the cleanse isn’t so much about weight loss as it is about reducing that stomach bloat, which can make you look and feel not your best. To be honest, I didn’t really change my diet. In fact, I did something that week that I never do … I ate an entire pint of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream (they were on sale at the grocery store and I’m always a sucker for a buy one get one free deal!)

But despite that slip-up, by the end of the seven days, my wife said I’d definitely lost my belly, which she told me while we were shooting the video below about the product. In between takes, I said, “Why didn’t you even tell me I had a belly?!” Apparently I did and according to my wife, this cleanse really helped to slim it down.
