There’s a tweet about Keanu Reeves going viral on social media so I thought I would share it in a post since I have flown with Keanu before and have firsthand experience.

The tweet from Andrew Kimmel showed Keanu in New York’s JFK signing an autograph after a flight from London’s Heathrow Airport. Andrew shared: “Keanu Reeves was on my flight from London to NYC today. A young boy asked for an autograph at baggage & then began to fire off a series of rapid-fire questions. Keanu happily responded to every single one…”

Andrew then shared all of the questions and answers, which are pretty funny and telling about how down to earth Keanu really is. (The tweets are embedded below as well.)

“Kid: Why were you in London?
KR: Filming a documentary.

Kid: I saw online you were at the Grand Prix (pronouncing the x)
KR: Yes, the Grand Prix (in a French accent, without correcting him). F1! Race cars!

Kid: Do you drive?
KR: Not F1, but I like riding motorcycles.

Kid: Do you live in NY?
KR: I live in LA.

Kid: How long are you gonna be in New York?
KR: Four days! No… five. Five days!

Kid: Why are you in NY?
KR: Gonna see a broadway show!

Kid: What broadway show?
KR: American Buffalo! Mamet!

Kid: Where are you staying in NY?
KR: Midtown!

By this time the kid was running out of questions, so Keanu started grilling him ? Why were you in Europe? What galleries did you go to in Paris? What was your favorite?

The man could not have been nicer, especially after an international flight. I thought I’d share this because the dude is a class act and little moments like this can make such a big difference in people’s lives. We need more Keanus!”

I’ve had the pleasure of having Keanu Reeves on at least one of my flights when I flew Los Angeles to Paris on Air France. I was in the first row of Business Class and he was right in front of me in First Class. I only asked him for a photo since a bunch of people were and he was so cool about it (but it might be the worst photo of him ever taken). I think he might have been under the weather, which is no fun after a 10-hour flight. But everything I’ve seen and heard from friends is that he’s a solid dude.

In a day and age of travel where all we see and hear about is rude, uncivilized behavior, it’s nice to share stories about all the good folks out there and Keanu Reeves is certainly one of them.

My friend is a director who lived at Ed Van Halen’s house for about nine months filming him. He was a production assistant on the movie that Keanu was filming in Chicago and picked him up and dropped him off every day for about six months, said he was the nicest, most down-to-earth guy you could ever imagine.
