Itching to go to Hawaii? This week only, Alaska Airlines is offering discounted fares to Hawaii as part of a novel partnership with Surfline, a surfing and surf forecasting site. In short, the discount—which applies to flights to or from Lihue (LIH), Kona (KOA), Maui (OGG), or Honolulu (HNL)—will grow if the waves in Hawaii grow. The bigger the waves, the more you can save on flights.
The discount is already up to 15% and could grow as high as 30%. Here’s how swell size correlates with discounted fares to Hawaii, per Alaska Airlines:
- 0 to 10ft = 10% off
- 11 to 15ft = 15% off
- 16 to 20ft = 20% off
- 21ft or more = 30% off
The discount won’t change if the size of the swells decreases, which means flights will be 15% off or better through Friday (November 8). The biggest catch is that travel must be on or before November 20, meaning in the next two weeks. So you’ll need to act fast to save big. See more on the Swell Deals promotion here.
