Chase Freedom Bonus Categories

The information for the Chase Freedom Flex℠ has been collected independently by Johnny Jet. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.

For the 2nd quarter of 2023, the Freedom bonus categories for the Chase Freedom® (no longer accepting new applications) and Chase Freedom Flex℠ cards are:

  • Lowe’s
  • Amazon.com

Once activated, the first $1,500 in combined purchases on the above categories made in April, May, and June 2023 earn 5% cash back and then 1% back. Activate by June 14, 2023, to earn the rewards.

Freedom Flex Ongoing Rewards Categories

The Chase Freedom Flex continues to earn:

  • 5% cash back on up to $1,500 in combined purchases in bonus categories each quarter you activate (then 1% back)
  • 5% cash back on travel purchased through Chase Ultimate Rewards®
  • 3% cash back on dining at restaurants, including takeout and eligible delivery services
  • 3% cash back on drugstore purchases
  • 1% on all other purchases

New Freedom Flex cardholders can earn a $200 bonus after spending $500 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening.

Having these bonus categories gives the Chase Freedom and Freedom Flex cards more value as these categories are things most people have monthly spending on. It also makes the Chase Freedom cards some of the best cards for grocery purchases.

Chase Freedom Unlimited

The Chase Freedom Unlimited® is a Visa Signature product that has similar earning opportunities. However, there are no quarterly rotating categories to activate. Instead of earning at least 1% cash back on all purchases, as you do with the Freedom Flex, you’ll earn at least 1.5% back.

Cardholders earn unlimited:

  • 5% cash back on travel purchased through Chase Travel
  • 3% cash back on dining at restaurants, including takeout and eligible delivery services
  • 3% cash back on drugstore purchases
  • 1.5% cash back on all other purchases

New Chase Freedom Unlimited® cardholders can enjoy an additional 1.5% cash back on everything they buy (on up to $20,000 spent in the first year) – worth up to $300 cash back! That means they can enjoy 6.5% cash back on travel purchased through Chase Travel, Chase’s premier rewards program that lets you redeem rewards for cash back, travel, gift cards, and more; 4.5% cash back on drugstore purchases and dining at restaurants, including takeout and eligible delivery service, and 3% on all other purchases (on up to $20,000 spent in the first year).

Other Chase Freedom Benefits

There are several other benefits available to new and existing cardholders.

You can get more details on each card in our Chase Freedom Flex review and in our Chase Freedom Unlimited review.

Partner Benefits

The Chase Freedom Flex also gets these Mastercard World Elite benefits:

  • $5 Lyft credit after your first 3 Lyft rides each month
  • $5 off Fandango after spending $20
  • Plus, 5% back on HelloFresh purchases for your next meal delivery kit
  • Complimentary ShopRunner 2-day shipping

Summary

The Chase Freedom cards are some of the best cash back credit cards you can own. The latest bonus categories continue to show why. These offers make it easy to earn and redeem Chase Ultimate Rewards as the most valuable credit card points.
