Map of areas with Zika riskWith everything going on in the world, one major headline from last year has taken the back shelf this year. That’s great for tourism boards and destinations but it’s terrible for pregnant women and couples planning on getting pregnant in the near future.

As we’ve reported in the past, the Zika virus is a serious matter and because of it Natalie and I cancelled multiple trips last year when she was pregnant with Jack.

Well, thanks to the CDC for creating this world map that is frequently updated and allows people to search for location-specific Zika information in areas with Zika risk. All users need to do is search for a place by name or zoom and click on the map to see CDC’s travel recommendations for Zika.

From the page: “Because Zika infection during pregnancy can cause severe birth defects, pregnant women should not travel to the areas below. Partners of pregnant women and couples considering pregnancy should know the risks to pregnancy and take prevention steps. All travelers should strictly follow steps to prevent mosquito bites and prevent sexual transmission during and after the trip.”
