The X1 Card is a rewards credit card that’s challenging the status quo. Some of the highlights of this metal credit card include earning at least 2x points on purchases, cash, and travel redemptions, plus a $0 annual fee. Keep reading or learn more about the X1 Card.

What is the X1 Card?

The X1 Card earns a fixed rate on purchases but blends cash and travel rewards.

It’s a Visa Signature card issued by Coastal Community Bank.

It has unique partnerships with travel brands like Airbnb and Southwest Airlines that allow you to directly redeem your purchase rewards on bookings.

Here are some of the other primary X1 Card features:

  • Potentially easy to qualify for (emphasize income instead of credit)
  • Travel and cash redemptions
  • No annual fee
  • No foreign transaction fee
  • Zero late fees
  • It’s a metal credit card (17 grams of stainless steel)

X1 states that applicants can have spending limits up to 5x higher than traditional credit cards. So, if you have imperfect credit but earn a solid income, this card is better than most of the competition as the rewards program is competitive.

You can also add up to five authorized users for free, with no age limits, allowing users to build their credit.

This card won’t be a substitute for a premium credit card.

However, it can outperform many no-annual-fee travel credit cards and even some that charge an annual fee but only come with lackluster benefits.

Earning Points

You will automatically earn 2 points per $1 on purchases. It’s possible to earn more with limited-time “Boosts” spending offers at participating merchants. Here are the rewards cardholders can earn:

  • 2x points on every purchase regardless of category
  • 3x points every time you spend $1,000 in a month
  • 4x, 5x, and even 10x points for every friend who gets a card
  • Up to 10x points at leading online stores such as Apple, Nike, and Sephora when you shop in the X1 App

Redeeming Points

You can redeem your points for travel rewards, retail shopping credits, or cash statement credits without a redemption minimum. The redemption value is 1 cent per point, which is the industry standard.

Deepak Rao, the co-founder of X1, states that the “X1 Card is the only credit card that allows points to be redeemed at Airbnb.”

All of the X1 Card travel partners include:

  • Airbnb
  • Alaska Airlines
  • American Airlines
  • Delta
  • Hotel Tonight
  • Southwest Airlines
  • United Airlines
  • JetBlue
  • Uber
  • VRBO
  • ZipCar

Unfortunately, the card doesn’t support mile transfers to a linked loyalty account.

Purchase and Travel Protection

You can enjoy these purchase and travel protection benefits:

  • Trip cancellation and interruption (up to $2,000 per insured person)
  • Secondary rental car coverage
  • Cell phone protection
  • Extended warranty protection
  • Return protection
  • Travel and emergency assistance (third-party fees apply)
  • Roadside dispatch (third-party fees apply)
  • Visa Concierge
  • Single-use digital credit card numbers

These perks provide additional peace of mind for life’s unexpected surprises.

Card Fees

You will most likely not pay any fees. But here is the summary of potential X1 Card expenses:

  • Annual fee: $0
  • Secondary cards: $0
  • Foreign transaction fee: 0%
  • Balance transfers: 2%
  • Cash advances: 2%

Variable APRs apply to carried balances.

X1 Card Pros

  • No annual fee and no foreign transaction fee
  • Travel, retail, and cash statement credits
  • Earn at least 2x points on purchases
  • Travel and purchase protection
  • Potentially lenient application requirements
  • Made of metal

X1 Card Cons

  • No signup bonus
  • Travel redemptions limited to specific brands
  • Cannot transfer miles (travel statement credits only)
  • Other cards can offer better trip cancellation and interruption coverage

The X1 Card is an attractive option if you don’t have excellent credit but want a card with an above-average earning potential for a no-annual-fee card. While the redemption options are flexible, you may avoid this product if you want mile transfer opportunities or a more universal travel statement credit feature.
