My good friend Valarie D’Elia, who’s the travel correspondent for NY1, recently did a piece on an iconic St. Petersburg Beach Hotel in Florida—the Loews Don CeSar Resort—that takes foster dogs from the local animal shelter when Florida temperatures drop on the Gulf Coast. Guests of the hotel are even able to take the dogs as their own pets during their stay. It’s a brilliant idea, and I wish more hotels did the same as it’s a win-win for everyone—and hopefully, it will lead to more adoptions.
