Try these tips from hotel managers the next time you stay in a hotel

As seen in this amazing Twitter thread, most frequent travelers have tips that can improve your next hotel stay. But maybe no one has more help to offer than hotel managers. In a story for Reader’s Digest, Danielle Braff spoke to several hotel managers and rounded up 13 of their best insights. Not all of these “travel secrets only hotel managers know” are really only known to hotel managers, but the story is full of good travel tips. Here’s my favorite:

Don’t ask about the best restaurants
“Instead, ask, ‘Is there a local food or drink specialty that I should experience while I’m here?’ says Ric Tanner general manager at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco Salt Lake City. That way, you’ll be directed to the spots that you really must try.”

The other tips include the value of tweeting to or about your hotel if you need help and the fact that—believe it or not—”if you simply walk in without a reservation (and the hotel has rooms available), you may be able to negotiate a better price.” See the full RD story here.
