Another tip for when the taxi driver is sickEach Friday, we feature a reader-submitted tip as our Travel Tip of the Day. This week’s tip comes from reader Anthony, who weighed in after reading my tip about sick Uber/taxi drivers this week:

“Never felt like I needed an excuse for the driver if I want to roll down a taxi, Uber, Lyft window. Often do it after a long flight just to breath ‘fresh air.’ However, I doubt if your suggestion makes any difference. Effectively you will just move the germs around that are in the vehicle. If the driver has a virus or bacteria, you would be better off to make sure you don’t shake hands with them or allow them to handle your luggage, as the germs will be better transmitted by those means. Be sure to wipe off handles/your hands with sanitizing wipe after they handle your luggage.”

Anthony’s right! If someone who I know is sick (even if they’re not) moves my luggage, I always wipe the handles down. And of course in general I wash my hands often and keep them away from my face.
