My favorite travel tip for New York City is don’t fear the outer boroughs, from the Bronx Zoo, Flushing Meadows in Queens to Coney Island in Brooklyn, there is so much more to see outside Manhattan
Use NY Airport Service (www.nyairportservice.com) for cheap transportation into the city. $12 from JFK to Grand Central as opposed to a $40 taxi! ($10 from La Guardia.)
My favorite travel tip for New York City is to avoid chain restaurants! There are thousands upon thousands of restaurants in the city, do you really want to settle for McDonalds?
I always book accommodation through Magellan Vacations — they have really great rates at the best hotels. [We’re going for a weekend in November and are getting a suite at the Plaza for much less than the “best available rate” for a standard room.] (BTW I dont qualify for your giveaway as I live in Canada…but I am a huge fan of Magellan]
Eat like a local and pick up a bagel and coffee for breakfast from a cart on virtually every street corner. You’ll save money and time (rather than going to a sit down restaurant), and can eat on foot or find a park bench to take in the view.
My favorite travel tip for New York City is a visit to Chinatown and Little Italy (conveniently next to each other). Have dinner at Peking Duck House or Joe’s Shanghai (known for their specialties – the duck and soup dumplings, respectively) and then sample the world’s best pastries at Ferrara’s.
My favorite travel tip for New York City is syncing your AMEX to foursquare when visiting the open. $10 credit for a $20 purchase. This worked on each of my 6 AMEX cards last year!
My favorite travel tip for NYC is the underground walking
passageway from Grand Central station to 48th and Park Av or 47 and Madison.
A quick, easy, clean and quiet way to go uptown in inclement weather!
My favorite travel tip for New York City is to purchase a pay-per-ride MetroCard or unlimited ride Metrocard and explore the city & all the boroughs by public transit. It’s much cheaper and often faster than taking a taxi!
My favorite travel tip for New York City is to walk the Brooklyn Bridge. You’ll enjoy amazing scenery including the skylines of Manhattan and Brooklyn, the Statue of Liberty, Governor’s Island, and the Manhattan and Williamsburg Bridges. If you’re a history buff, love architecture, or just enjoy the outdoors, the Bridge is a great and FREE activity. I recommend going from the Manhattan side to the Brooklyn side so the walk can be followed by pizza at Grimaldi’s or ice cream from the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory!
My favorite travel tip for New York City is to hang out with hot chicks around the city with a flower in one hand. :)
My favorite travel tip for New York City is … to use the transit system – take the subway and use the buses too! Buy a refillable MetroCard (can pay for up to 4 people at a time) and blend in with the locals. An easy way to traverse the city and the region, and experience NYC. Enjoy!
