“When I travel and want to find out the fees from banks, credit cards, phone deposits, etc.—basically anything that requires a fee—I do not call! I always send an email to inquire about fees, so that I have their response in writing. A few years back I was quoted certain rates for text messages and calls made overseas. When I returned home my bill was decidedly different. Luckily I had the email and the phone company removed almost $80 in overcharges.”

    KEEP EVERYTHING! We just got an email that that our $4,800 travel cancellation claim was being honored for a trip cancelled a month before an April 2016 trip. All went smoothly due to careful saving of documents for our unplanned claim. Docs requested and submitted were receipts, bank statements, itineraries, boarding passes, doctors diagnoses and letters, hospital bills, passport copies (due to a slight name change issue). Another $2.200 was saved prior to the claim by canceling immediately upon hearing my wife’s diagnose of cancer and scheduling surgery. Insure My Trip helped with one little speed bump with Allianz Insurance.
