Each Friday, we’re featuring a reader-submitted tip as our Travel Tip of the Day. This week’s tip builds on Tuesday’s tip about liquids and electronics at Heathrow, and it comes from Kathy S., who says:

“Continuing with the Heathrow theme, ladies: For some reason your lipstick is considered a liquid too. Put it in the bag along with the rest of your liquids.”

A nice add that may help beyond just Heathrow. Thanks, Kathy!

I’ve been through Heathrow several times but never had a problem with lipstick.

Lipstick in a purse in a backpack resulted in a meticulous search of those items as well as a full-body search – at O’Hare. I’d packed that way for years, and never had a problem previously, including international flights within the last year.

I think lipstick is not a problem on heathrow …

Personally, I think Heathrow scrutinizes items to the point of “overkill”! My husband and I recently had a “stopover” there and we almost missed our connecting flight from Istanbul to Newark because of the intense screening of our bags.
