reader-travel-tip2Bring Photos of the Kids
Each Friday, we’re featuring a reader-submitted tip as our Travel Tip of the Day. This week’s tip comes from reader Paul H. of Victoria, Australia, who says:

“If you’re travelling with children, it’s a good idea to take a few photos of them before you leave home and keep them on your mobile phone, as well some printed copies, in case they get lost or separated from you, and you need to show police etc. We always do this when we’re travelling with our son.”

A great tips for parents. And with the ease of cellphone cameras, it can’t hurt to take a new photo for each day of travel so that should you need to, you can show exactly what your kids are wearing. Thanks, Paul!

I have placed a photo of my husband and me on our passports inner page of the back cover. I keep it up to date. If we are separated then I have a quick photo. We also wear “dogtags” which have a photo on one side and our address on the other. The dogtag photos are smaller but also immediately available in case of a problem.

Don’t even need to be traveling with the kids…I need to do this with my wife when we go out shopping. I can never remember what she was wearing when we entered the store.

Concerning the “Bring Photos of the Kids” post, it would be a good idea to have photos of every member of your party whether they are chidden or not. If you “lost” your spouse, it would help to have a photo to aid in your “search”.

I used to buy blank plastic paper bracelets, the type you use for concerts or bars. Write my cell/mobile on it. Place it tightly but comfortably on the childs wrist or ankle.snap shut.
If the child wanders off at least someone can ring you and it works at theme parks or water parks as they are resilient and waterproof. I have also asked my elderly mother to wear one incase we get separated and put one on her wheelchair in case that wandered off on it own.
