If you’ve never realized how versatile duct tape is, I’m here to tell you… think again.

Every Father’s Day Weekend, the suburb of Avon, Ohio hosts The Duct Tape Parade and Festival, a three-day event that celebrates duct tape and its many wacky uses.

Parade floats, sculptures, fashion, and art exhibits are crafted almost entirely of this seemingly mundane household product (try and tell that to a duct tape enthusiast!). The variety of creations vie for the coveted “Tip Top Tape” award as well as a “Duct Tape Dad of the Year.”

Paying homage to everyday consumer products seems kooky but it’s one way families, small businesses, and schools in Avon strengthen ties with one another. It’s the small-town charm I always hear about but rarely get to experience.
