As a sign-up bonus, the co-branded Chase Hyatt Visa credit card used to offer two free Hyatt nights once you reached the minimum spending requirement. That all changed June 29, 2017, and now all new cardholders will earn 40,000 bonus World of Hyatt points (plus 5,000 points by adding an authorized user) after spending $2,000 in the first 3 months. [EXPIRED]

The two free nights used to be an excellent opportunity to stay at a high-end Hyatt property that usually cost up to $900 per night. For example, many years ago I redeemed my two free nights at the Park Hyatt Vendome in Paris.

While you can’t get two free nights at the highest category Hyatt hotel now, you can stretch out your points for more nights. Plus, you can top off your Hyatt account by transferring in Chase Ultimate Rewards points.

Two other tidbits. 1. The Hyatt Visa Credit Card doesn’t fall under the 5/24 rule AND 2. The Hyatt Visa comes with a free anniversary night good for any category 1-4 Hyatt

World of Hyatt Reward Nights Start at 5,000 Points

It’s still extremely easy to get at least two free nights because Hyatt rewards nights start at 5,000 points, so you could get up to 8 free nights through the Hyatt’s sign-up bonus.

To maximize the two free nights from the sign-up bonus, you should book a standard room at Category 5 property that costs 20,000 points per night.

If you want to stretch your points, you can get eight free nights if you only stay at a Category 1 property.

Again, for every year you own the Hyatt Visa card, you will earn a free anniversary night that can be redeemed at any Category 1-4 Hyatt property.

Examples of Hyatt Properties Rewards Redemptions

Even though you no longer truly get two free nights, you can still maximize your Hyatt bonus to get two free nights and save hundreds of dollars. Some of the locations can cost up to $600 per night if you pay with cash so the 40,000 bonus points are still one of the most valuable hotel rewards cards bonus offers.

Below, are a list of Hyatt properties you should look at first to get the most value from each point.
