Is it me or does it seem like people are getting crazier (and crazier) than they were pre-pandemic? We have seen incident after incident take place with travelers either at the airport or on the plane and it is happening all over the world.

The latest incident happened on Wednesday at Milan’s Malpensa International Airport (MXP). In video shared all over social media (embedded above), a hammer-wielding man is seen dousing a check-in desk with a flammable liquid and setting fire to it. Then scores of frantic travelers flee as black smoke and flames engulf that part of the airport.
No injuries were reported but after the man used a hammer to bang on a wall with screens, another man approached him shouting “get down”. The man then hit him on the head with a fire extinguisher.
According to the NY Post, “the maniac, only identified as a 28-year-old born in Mali, was detained after someone struck him on the head with a fire extinguisher and others quickly pinned him to the floor.”
According to BBC, who interviewed the woman who filmed the video, Fabiola Gomes, “she was at the airport to collect a relative before seeing fire everywhere and a boy with a hammer who was hitting the counter.”
Fortunately, airport firefighters quickly put out the blaze but the heavy smoke meant the area had to be evacuated for safety reasons. There was surprisingly no significant disruption to air traffic but social media did not take too kindly to this disturbed individual although they also made some jokes about this not funny incident. Below are some of the best ones:
Claudia W: If it was Easyjet I could pay for his lawyer
Charlie S: Spirit passengers need to step their game up 🤔😉
Ian F: Nothing beats a flaming holiday!!
@failtiel: Just waiting for the nothing beats a jet2 holiday meme sound to be added
