Here are further details about this card and why you may want to consider it.

What is a GM Rewards Card?

The My GM Rewards® Mastercard® is a consumer rewards credit card by Marcus from Goldman Sachs that has a $0 annual fee and a $0 foreign transaction fee (See Rates & Fees). It’s also a Mastercard World Elite® benefits product and can be used for daily purchases. As its name implies, it’s good for GM households.

It is an unsecured credit card that doesn’t require a security deposit and reports your monthly payment history to the three personal credit bureaus (Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion).

You can earn bonus points on GM-related purchases and services and redeem your points toward the purchase of a new automobile.

Where Can I Use My Card?

What are the GM Rewards Card Credit Score Requirements?

You should have good or excellent credit to apply for the GM Rewards Card. A minimum score of 670 is advised although applying when it’s 700 or higher can provide better approval odds.

What is the Credit Limit?

Most applicants will receive an initial credit limit between $3,500 and $7,500. Well-qualified applicants can anticipate a preset spending limit of $10,000 or more.

It’s possible to request a credit line increase 90 days after opening a GM Card account. Additionally, you can request a follow-up increase at least 90 days after being approved for a spending limit increase.

The card issuer states this request doesn’t require a hard pull as they will evaluate the current information available from the credit bureaus. Most credit line decisions are issued within 10 minutes through the Marcus dashboard and by email, yet some requests require 3-5 days for processing.

  • 4X on all remaining card purchases

It’s also possible to collect points on other activities through the My GM Rewards program. Your earning potential depends on your current membership tier—Silver, Gold, and Platinum—and the activity.

Is the GM Rewards Card Worth It?

This card is worth considering if you plan on redeeming your points to buy or lease a GM vehicle, pay for GM Certified Service, or optional accessories and services for your vehicle.

Consider a travel rewards card if you want to redeem your points for award flights, hotels, and car rentals, which can have a higher redemption value.

Final Thoughts

GM loyalists stand to gain the most from the GM Rewards Card as the points are most valuable when you redeem them toward a replacement vehicle or having service performed on your current auto. Otherwise, this product leaves something to be desired if you want flexible travel or cash redemption options.
