Here’s a great way to do something good and get some frequent flier miles. When you donate $25 or more (up to $10,000), American Airlines will award you 25 AAdvantage bonus miles for each dollar you give to Stand Up To Cancer. The offer ends on September 30 “or when total qualifying donations reach $3,000,000, whichever comes first.” For charitable deduction purposes, each mile is valued at 3 cents per mile. The receipt of miles may reduce the tax deductibility of your donation.
Here’s What You Need To Know
- Donations must be made online at StandUpToCancer.org/get-involved/american-airlines-donate-25-mile.
- Minimum $25 donation required.
- Bonus miles do not count toward status qualification.
- Described bonus miles are expected to be posted to your account by December 19, 2025.
- Donations can only be accepted in U.S. dollars.
- Donations made in connection with American Airlines AAdvantage bonus miles program are not refundable.
Back in June, I wrote a trip report of our Los Angeles-Chicago to Naples (Italy) flight. While in the lounge at LAX, I saw our plane pulling into the gate and noticed that it was the American Airlines StandUp2Cancer plane (pictured above). I told my son that the original one had my mom’s name on it since I had made a donation and whoever did so, had their loved one’s name written on the aircraft.
My son immediately jumped into my arms and gave me a long, consoling hug. So sweet.
