Ask the TSA your carry-on questionsRecently, model Chrissy Teigen tweeted to American Airlines: “If I don’t have a carry-on, can I bring a large ceramic casserole dish of scalloped potatoes on the plane? I am not kidding, is this okay? Is it too blunt/heavy an object? I’ll cry if they throw it away”

It’s a good question, and so American Airlines referred her to @AskTSA, which is the Twitter handle of the Transportation Security Administration. Surprisingly, the TSA team does a great job answering questions on Twitter, and you don’t have to be a celebrity to get a response. If you ever have a carry-on question you can’t find an answer to, just tweet @AskTSA (their hours are 8am-10pm ET on weekdays and 9am-7pm ET on weekends/holidays). And if you’re curious about what they had to say about Chrissy’s potatoes, here you go:

That’s nice an all but if a TSA agent feels differently at the airport she’s going to lose those scalloped potatoes. I had extra frozen, in package “Wholly Guacamole” I purchased from Costco in Hawaii confiscated because it was “liquid like”. I knew better than to argue.

Prepackaged sealed fruit cups from groc ( with fruit juice) usually 6 per pack. Also Apple Sause. weight 4 oz.each. are these considered liquids or lunch?

My question is I bought travel carry on airport compliant bags quart sized 3-1-1 it has a picture of three items, does that mean only three items can go in that bag? and how many quart size bags can I bring in my carry on?

You can put as many items that will fit in just ONE quart size bag in your carryon.
