There’s a pretty funny but grainy video (embedded below) on a flight attendant industry Facebook page showing an airline ramper dropping his pants and mooning the pilot of a plane that had just pushed back from the gate.
A Fly Guy’s Cabin Crew Lounge captioned the post: “What a legend!!! Ramper moons pilots after the captain allegedly complained his first send-off salute wasn’t adequate.” He followed up with, “If the allegations are true… the booty salute was warranted.”
The comments are pretty funny, except for the fact that one person claims he was fired for doing it. See below:
Christiaan Van Deur: Ramper was fired for it, unfortunately, but I’m hoping a good lawsuit will get it back, cause God knows nobody will say a thing to the captain.
CC Adcock: Trust me, as a former ramper… pilots can be pure 🍆’s for no reason! I never understood it. Not many are that way, but when you do get one, you want to make sure you step on those pushback brakes a little harder than usual 😂 nothing like a 🍆 head pilot giving the dashboard a little kiss after an “accidental” brake check 😂
Amy Craft: The way the left guy turned when he realized what he was about to do 😆
John Hershey: I worked in aviation for 30 years before I retired. Not once did I ever salute a pilot, nor did I hear a complaint about it. I would wave at them, but I’m not a military guy, so I do not salute.
Randall Gellens: If you want a respectful send-off salute, depart from an airport in Japan. The rampers line up and bow, then wave goodbye.
When it comes to air travel, there’s a lot of behind-the-scenes action going on that passengers have no idea about and this is just one example. I think it’s pretty funny that a captain, some of whom apparently can sometimes think they’re better than others, got the send-off he deserved.
