I was at LAX on May 16 to attend the gate party for TAP Air Portugal’s inaugural flight from Los Angeles to Lisbon. It marked the airline’s tenth U.S. route and its longest of all.
The event included media, dignitaries, and TAP’s Chairman and CEO Luís Rodrigues, who told me his best travel tip:

Starting this winter, TAP will fly between LAX and Lisbon three times a week—on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays—using Airbus A330-900neo aircraft.
This expansion reinforces TAP’s growing North American footprint. The airline, which celebrated its 80th anniversary in March, now flies from eight U.S. cities: Los Angeles, New York (JFK), Newark, Boston, Miami, Chicago, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C.
Including Toronto, Montreal, and Cancun, TAP will operate more than 100 weekly flights this summer from 11 North American gateways.
